Climate and energy agreement from Ödemiş
Ödemiş Municipality has joined the European Union-backed Global Covenant of Mayors on Climate and Energy (GCoM) to combat climate change. This agreement makes Ödemiş an international commitment to implement sustainable energy, environmental protection, and climate action plans.

Ödemiş Mayor Mustafa Turan, stating that they joined the agreement by decision of the Municipal Council, said, “We have a responsibility that extends from the local to the global level to protect our city's nature, agriculture, water, and future. With this agreement, we will take concrete steps to reduce carbon emissions, increase renewable energy sources, and build a city resilient to climate change. In this way, we will demonstrate Ödemiş's vision of becoming a more livable, environmentally friendly, and resilient city not only for today but also for future generations.” As part of the agreement, the Ödemiş Municipality will develop a Climate and Energy Action Plan in the coming period.

The Global Council on Climate Change (GCoM) was founded on the commitment of more than 13,500 cities and local governments. It is the largest global alliance dedicated to leading cities in the fight against climate change. Cities from 147 countries across six continents participate in the alliance, representing a total of more than 1.2 billion people. The Global Council on Climate Change (GCoM) aims to reduce global emissions by 4.2 GtCO2 equivalents annually by 2050.
