Antalya in Europe with the CLIMAAX Project…
Antalya Metropolitan Municipality participated in an international workshop held in Barcelona, Spain, with the CLIMAAX Project. The project presented scientific analyses and future scenarios designed to make Antalya more resilient to extreme heat and heat waves. The heat wave and urban heat island maps, vulnerability analyses, and science-based approach received positive feedback at the workshop. The workshop brought together representatives from 23 European countries.

What is the CLIMAAX Project?
CLIMAAX is a four-year Horizon Europe project that will provide financial, analytical, and practical support to improve regional climate and emergency risk management plans. It is designed to lay the foundation for future European initiatives by contributing to the harmonization and consolidation of climate risk assessment practices.

The project began in January 2023 and will run until December 2026. The project aims to develop a robust, coordinated framework of consistent and comparable risk assessments for disaster risk management and climate change adaptation in Europe. The project prioritizes improving accessibility, guidance, adaptation to local contexts, interpretation, and adoption by representative Disaster Risk Management and Civil Protection authorities.
